Yamna started her career in the energy sector in 2019 at State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), Maldives. Starting from 2024, she was assigned to lead the Planning & Monitoring Unit of the Renewable Energy Department where she supported the implementation of renewable energy development projects. Additionally, she was also entrusted with leading the development of STELCO's five-year Strategic Action Plan 2023.

Strategic Disaster Risk Management and Emergency Management professional with over 12 years of progressive experience strengthening national resilience, leading emergency operations and advancing disaster risk reduction in the Maldives. Currently serving as Director of Emergency Management at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), providing leadership for national preparedness, multi-agency emergency coordination, humanitarian response, disaster data management, policy development and institutional capacity building. Career spans emergency operations, disaster damage and loss assessment, resilience programming, humanitarian coordination, climate adaptation, and stakeholder engagement. I have worked closely with government agencies, emergency services, UN organizations, international development partners, academia, and local communities to strengthen national systems and improve evidence-based decision-making. As a passionate trainer and facilitator, I have designed and delivered professional training programmes, simulation exercises and university lectures for different educational institutes, Government offices and other public and private institutions. I am committed to building safer, more resilient communities through innovation, inclusive leadership, and collaboration.

Fathimath has been working in the field of architecture for 16 years with a diverse background in both interior design and architecture. She began her career as a draftsman and interior designer in private firms before transitioning into government service as an architect. Her career has also included significant contributions to legislative and regulatory frameworks, where she helped shape planning and development guidelines. These experiences have strengthened her ability to balance creative design with governance, compliance, and long-term urban development goals. Currently, she serves as the head of the city planning and projects unit at Fuvahmulah City Council, leading major urban development initiatives, infrastructure projects, and city planning efforts to ensure sustainable and community-focused growth.

Mrs. Fathimath Shaufa is the Director, and current acting head of Policy Development Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Republic of Maldives. She is one of the key persons involved in the intial development and of the Construction Act and development of regulations under the Act. She is the Civil Service team lead for formulation of policies, regulations and standards under Ministry’s mandate, which is Housing, Urban Development, Real Estate, Land and Construction Sectors. Her vision is to standardize the sectors mandated to the Ministry, establish strong frameworks for quality control and revolutionize the public services for the sectors during her service.

Fathimath is working as an assistant architect at the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, in the Construction Regulations and Standards Section. In this role, she is actively involved in drafting policies, regulations, and guidelines that support the development and governance of the construction industry in the Maldives. Before joining the Ministry, she worked in a private architectural firm as an assistant architect, where she was engaged in designing a variety of projects ranging from residential spaces to commercial developments. This experience allowed her to strengthen my skills in design, technical drawing, and project coordination, while also nurturing my creativity and passion for architecture.

Fizna has been working as a director at planning at market development section at Utility Regulatory Authority. Prior to that she was the assistant director and an engineer at the Maldives Energy Authority She is involved in managing all the section work and coordinating and enhancing data collection of utility services including the energy, water and waste sector. She is also involved in reviewing the technical designs of electrical panel and power system reports and approving them according to the relevant technical standards set by the Utilities Regulatory Authority.

Since February 2016, she has been a dedicated freelance quantity surveyor, providing expert services to a variety of clients. Her career includes significant roles at the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, where she served as a senior quantity surveyor. Her early career was marked by her tenure at the Ministry of Construction and Public Works, where she progressed to secretary from surveying technician and assistant surveyor between 1995 and 2005.

Nuzuhath joined the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Energy as a Renewable Energy specialist, working on World Bank-funded renewable energy projects. She has actively contributed to the renewable energy transition in the Maldives by developing and implementing projects for renewable energy infrastructure. Her work involves developing tenders for distributed solar power voltage systems for island microgrids, battery energy storage systems, and power system modernization efforts. She is continuously expanding into new areas of renewable energy, overseeing consultancies and engaging expert consultants to explore new technology adaptations, and developing roadmaps and project pathways aimed at achieving a net-zero economy for Maldives.
