Professional Bio
Sumaiya Tabbassom is an Executive Engineer at Power Grid Bangladesh PLC with over 13 years of professional experience in power transmission, infrastructure development, international procurement, and contract management. She holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology(AUST) and an Executive MBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Dhaka.
Throughout her career, she has worked in transmission line design, substation design engineering, and the implementation of large-scale power sector projects. Her expertise includes international tendering, bid evaluation, contract administration, and stakeholder coordination for critical infrastructure development. She has a work experience as a lecturer at AUST and a Solar company as well. Basically she started her career in 2011.
Ms. Tabbassom has received specialized training from leading international institutions, including Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and ABB, Switzerland. She has also participated in technical inspections and knowledge-exchange programs across Asia and Europe, gaining exposure to global best practices in power transmission systems.
Beyond her technical responsibilities, she actively promotes gender inclusion and leadership development in the energy sector through WePower initiatives in partnership with the World Bank. She has contributed to workplace policy development, employee welfare programs, and organizational capacity-building initiatives. Passionate about sustainable infrastructure and regional cooperation, she is committed to advancing resilient and inclusive energy systems across South Asia.
