Professional Bio
Zain is a dam safety assessment specialist with extensive experience in the inspection, structural evaluation, and risk assessment of large dams. He served as an assistant executive engineer at the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Pakistan, where he led and participated in numerous annual and special safety inspections for major projects, including Tarbela Dam, Mangla Dam, and several other key reservoirs. His expertise spans both field-based physical condition assessments and advanced analytical safety evaluations. He has held academic and research positions, including postdoctoral fellow at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and research associate at Imperial College London, where he developed and validated machine learning algorithms for analytical fragility curve generation. In addition to his technical expertise, he has contributed to numerous high-impact publications, engaged in international collaborations, and played an active role in capacity building initiatives related to dam safety and structural resilience.
