Mon Devi Shrestha entered the civil services in 2009 as a gazette third-class officer in the Department of Electricity Development and promoted to senior divisional engineer in 2015. She was promoted to Joint Secretary in 2017 and has been working as deputy director general for 7 years. Her latest role is secretary in the electricity regulatory commission.
