Bimal Gurung started his professional career as a civil engineer (Cost Engineer) back in 1997 from the construction of Kali Gandaki, Hydroelectric Project (144 MW), in Nepal, through main civil contractor impregilo spa of Italy. He also worked on the chilime hydroelectric project (22 MW) from 2000 to 2003, as a senior civil engineer. In December 2003, he joined the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), a state-owned enterprise. He worked in upper Tamakoshi hydroelectric project (456 MW) from March 2005 till December 2022 starting from project preparation to commissioning of the project in various roles.
