Laxmi Jha started her career as a lecturer in Kathmandu engineering college. Altogether, four years of service in the Ministry of Urban Development. She then secured the position as a senior divisional engineer in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. In this position, her primary responsibilities include licensing, designing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on hydropower projects. She was also involved in public hearings and dispute settlements during the construction of hydropower and transmission line projects.
