Rahim began his career as an assistant engineer at LGED focusing on planning, estimating, procurement, and construction of rural infrastructure. Promoted to executive engineer, he worked in the project monitoring and evaluation unit and led successful litigation in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He was selected by the anti-corruption commission Bangladesh and served as an investigation officer to combat corruption.
