The short training course on Disaster Management and Disaster Resilient Infrastructure aims to address capacity gaps in disaster risk resilience systems across South Asia. The training is intended for government and emergency sector practitioners, managers and engineers; and shall cover topics of natural disasters, engineering applications, from transport to critical communications, disaster and post-disaster finances, public safety and health.
This short training will be delivered through a blended learning model (classroom lectures, discussions and networking events, and field trips) as below:
During this period, the training partner will set the learning context and expectations by informing participants about the learning outcomes, assessment rules, training topics, guidelines for their stay in Australia, and any preconditions.
This component will involve a 2-week study program and experiential activities delivered in Australia. In addition to classroom-based learning, this component will include engagement with experts from academic centers and private sector and targeted site visits that will enhance the practical orientation of the training.
The training partner will engage with the SARIC trainees during their training in Australia by providing mentoring support on their SiW plans. This will include demand-driven, short mentoring sessions and will conclude with a presentation on progress on their SiW plan with the entire cohort. SiW helps the participants relate the concepts learned to the workplace, thus reinforcing the training undertaken.
